Dear Kindergarten Parents,                                               September 18, 2018

We have been very busy for the last few weeks. Here are some of the things we’ve been working on in class (in case you would like to reinforce these things at home).

  • Identifying parts of a book
  • Recognizing that words are made up of letters
  • Identifying capital and lower case Cc
  • Associating picture names with initial /k/ sound
  • Associating the letter Cc with the /k/ sound
  • Identifying words that begin with /k/ sound
  • Identifying rhyming words
  • Writing the letter C and c correctly by using correct formation and following guidelines
  • Drawing conclusions from pictures

Today we have met our new Super Kid Oswald! We will be working on the letter Oo and sound of /o/

In math we are modeling, counting, representing with number names and written numerals from 0 to 5 objects. We are also using drawings to show 5 in more than one way ( 2 and 3 or 4 and 1…); and finally we are working on problem solving by making a model. We will be finishing our chapter by the end of this week and will move on to comparing numbers to 5 by next week.

Please don’t forget to turn in your field trip permission slips, as students will not be able to participate without them.

Finally, each child has been assigned a buddy. The kindergarteners sit with their buddies at church during Monday morning masses and do special activities together. Your child will be coming home with a paper called: “All About Me”. This will tell you the name of your child’s buddy and some of their favorite things.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email me, I’ll be glad to respond.

Dear Kindergarten Parents,                                     September 10th, 2018

Thank you for taking the time and coming to Back to School Night, it was wonderful for me to see everybody.

Please look in your child’s backpack today for the following things: STAR (Early Literacy) Parent Report, Enrichment Classes for Lego Robotics and Chess Club (this will go home with the oldest and/or only child in the school) and several permission slips that need to be filled out for this year’s field trips to The Soraya/CSUN.

All the permission slips will be due back, to me, by Friday September 14th, 2018.

Also, keep in mind the Tuesday Morning Prayer Group at 6:45 AM in the Moran Center if you want to come check it out!

If you have any questions don’t hesitate to email me, I’m here for you.

Have a good week,

Mrs. Dabsys

Kindergarten Newsletter 8-27-18

Dear Kindergarten Parents,                                                               8/24/18

We are off to a good start! Please remember that the students have a later start on Mondays. If you need to drop your child off early, they may go to Kids Club free of charge. Also, The school students all attend church on Mondays; however, students do not need to be in full mass uniforms for this (shorts will be fine).

Please keep in mind that the students will be doing STAR testing this week. It’s important that your child comes to school well rested and having had a good healthy breakfast.

Starting this week the kindergarteners will be taking a rest in the afternoon since we a starting full days. Many students fall asleep during this time, so I ask that every student bring in a towel and an empty pillowcase to store their towel in for rest time.

Finally, this year’s P.E. days are on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Students should have shorts for those days.

Don’t forget to pack a snack and a lunch from now on, and if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to email me.

God bless you,

Mrs. Dabsys
